The User Manual for Romanizing the Minnan Language is available for free in the Download section of the website of the Ministry of Education.

To encourage school teachers and publishers of instructional materials to adopt this input method, the MOE developed a user's manual, which is now also available in print form. The manual explains in detail the principles of Romanizing the Minnan language spoken in Taiwan, including syllable structure, initials, finals, tones, the use of ligatures, and rules for romanization.

Since launching the project "Roman Alphabet Method for the Minnan Language" on October 14 of 2006, the MOE has implemented the following measures to facilitate use of the input method:

  1. A table of syllables in pinyin spelling was completed in 2006 and made available as a free download from the MOE website;
  2. The MOE continues to subsidize teacher training programs;
  3. The MOE Roman Alphabet Input Method for the Minnan Language was released in 2007, and the MOE Chinese Characters Input Method for the Minnan Language was released in 2007. They were made available as a free download from the MOE website;
  4. In accordance with the input-method project, the following documents were published in 2007 and in May of 2008: Principles of Selecting Characters for the Minnan language and Recommended Characters for the Minnan Language (Group One, Two, Three). All together, there are 700 recommended characters.
