More than 140 Australian university students will take part in short and semester-length programs in Taiwan next year under the 2018 New Colombo Plan.
The Australian Government has awarded grants to 13 Australian universities for students undertaking programs in a range of disciplines to participate in 20 mobility projects to live, study and undertake internships in Taiwan.
Taiwan is one of the 35 eligible host locations for the New Colombo Plan, which supports study across the Indo-Pacific region, sees higher education as a part of a nation-building vision, and recognizes the benefit of youth mobility for global learning, and building people-to-people links.
The NCP mobility projects strengthen partnerships between Australian universities and prestigious universities in Taiwan. Australian students are increasingly seeing Taiwan as one of the top destinations for learning about Asia’s economy, and evolving democracy, and since the New Colombo Plan was introduced by the Australian Government, Taiwan has hosted approximately 450 Australian students to study and undertake work-related internships.
Australian universities and consortia seeking opportunities in Taiwan can contact the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia.
