Department of Information Communication Educational Goal In recent years, the Executive Yuan of our Country has been aggressively promoting this Island to become the next "Asian Operation Center". Among many objectives, there are two related to Information Communication: one is the Electronic Communication Center, the purpose of this establishment is to let any kind of device related to multimedia, such as sound, word, vision, graph, and various communication networks to be well-connected among enterprises worldwide with the most speedy, stable and dependable pace. Another objective is the Multimedia Center, the main purpose is to organize well-produced TV shows. Due to the fast exploration of computer and telecommunication industries, the progressive joint venture of these two industries has made information communicate immensely. While the advanced technologies are continuously developed, the evolution of techniques and theories in communication field is also followed. The promotion of liberalization and internationalization toward communication policies advocated by our Government has prospered the local communication industries. In this new era of information technology, it is an absolute trend to apply information-engineering techniques to the mass media industries. Meanwhile, the innovation of media techniques has made the demand for hi-tech produced programs increase, so does the media programs adapted with visual techniques. Therefore, the main purpose to have this Department is to cultivate professionals who have the knowledge of fundamentals of information engineering; practical experience in media, telecommunication network and possess the qualities of multimedia participants, so that the project to become the "Asian Operation Center" and the establishment to make our nation become a Technical Island can go hand in hand.
Development Features In order to cultivate professionals in the above-mentioned ways, there are two major features in terms of lecturing and researching: 1. Multimedia Design and Production: plan advertisement design, 2D/3D animation design, digital special visual processing. 2. Communication through Internet: installation and management of Internet, distance lecturing and medication, the design and production of Internet games.

Faculty and Staff According to the academic development and the specialty of each lecturer, currently, we have 1 associate professor and 2 instructors on board. While expending, professors with related doctoral degrees shall be recruited by us for reinforcement.
Facilities and Equipments Currently, we have the backup lab systems provided by the General Education; in the upcoming years, departmental labs shall be installed as follows: 1. Internet Communication Lab. 2. Multimedia Lab. 3. Visual Media Lab. 4. Plan Design Lab. 5. Photo and Filming Studios 6. Post-digital production Lab. 7. Case Study Research Room
Development Directions The main directions for educational and research development are: 1. Aggressively cultivate professionals who have the abilities to perform multimedia productions, which include computer graphing, plan advertisement design with the computer auxiliaries, 2D/3D animation design, digital camera, digital filming, and special effectiveness. 2. Eagerly training students to have the professionalisms in practicing internet communication, such as internet installation and management, homepage design, data compression, coding and de-coding, distance lecturing and medication, as well as the design and production of internet games. 3. Continuously promoting tests for related certificates: to follow the national certificate policy, this Department- with the current facilities- is able to conduct related certificate tests in order to cultivate students with higher interests and better techniques in professionalism.
