Mirror Image brings together the creative energies and shared concerns for our natural environment of dance artists from Taiwan’s Dancecology dance company; from the DPAC Dance Company from Malaysia, including Jyh Shyong Wong, the artistic director; and from Dr Dalman’s own Mirramu Dance Company from Australia. This work explores the connection between people and their landscapes - the way people reflect the land and the land reflects us. "We're becoming more and more separate from the environment and nature. Mirror Image explores the relationship between people and the land'' Dalman says.

Grace Hsiao-yin Peng, artistic director of Taiwan's Dancecology, shares Dalman's concerns and wants to create dance works that can be a voice for nature: "Despite our cultural differences, the same strong connection with nature makes us feel like we've been dancing together for a long time. And the movement and quality of dancer is so remarkable. Each is quite characteristic but you can feel the harmony together”.

Dr Dalman, Artistic Director of Mirramu Dance Company and Director of Mirramu Creative Arts Centre has a long-standing relationship with Taiwan. She first visited Taiwan more than 40 years ago and has been a frequent and regularly invited artist and mentor ever since. She built connections with Taiwanese dancers and Taipei University of the Arts.

Audiences will have a chance to enjoy Mirror Image in Taipei in June, and in Selangor in Malaysia in July.
