Festivities at University of Tübingen’s ERCCT
The ERCCT invited numerous, high-ranking guests to join an official ceremony to celebrate its new status on July 7, 2014, and participate in the festivities. These included Dr. Bernd Engler, the president of Tübingen University, the head of the International Office, Ms. Agnes Hwa-Yue Chen, the representative of the Republic of China in Germany, who made formal congratulatory remarks; Prof. Shen Cen-Chu, head of the Education Division, and all the professors and scholars involved with the ERCCT.
In addition, the ERCCT threw the spotlight on Taiwan's rich culture and art life by presenting a week-long wide range of activities in Tübingen. These included a series of Taiwanese films, a concert, a photo exhibition, dance performances, public readings by Taiwanese authors, and lectures on Taiwanese culture, along with Taiwanese food to sample.
The ERCCT will continue its successful Research Fellowship Program for doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows, specializing in social science-based research on contemporary Taiwan, working cooperatively with Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. Prof. Shen spoke about the development of this prestigious fellowship program during the July 7 event, and talked with some of the research fellows, as well as to the younger students who have received a Huayu Enrichment Scholarship for the upcoming academic year.
