The forum was attended by 52 people. Dr. Lee Chuan, the President of Ming Chuan University led a delegation of representatives from a dozen Taiwan universities, including National Taiwan University, National Normal Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, and Taipei Medical University, and from the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan who met and networked with international program representatives from many southern California universities at the forum. These included UC Riverside, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, California State University (CSU) Los Angeles, CSU Long Beach, CSU Channel Islands, CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Northridge, the University of Southern California, and Chapman University.

Steve C.C. Hsia the TECO Director-General said in his opening remarks: “I believe that this event will make a tremendous contribution to education relationships between Taiwan and Southern California, and that we can work together to explore opportunities for cooperation in international education exchanges and mobility, including staff and student exchanges and joint programs.”

The Education Division was very happy to co-host this forum with UC Irvine. Although it is the youngest member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, UC Irvine has produced three Nobel laureates and is known for its academic achievement, premier research, and innovation. Dr. Liang Li-Ling, director of the Education Division replied to reporters’ questions saying: “We’ll continue to seek more cooperation with universities in the areas of Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii.” These areas are all under the jurisdiction of TECO in Los Angeles.
