The Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam invited a delegation of 51 professors and students from 8 universities in Taiwan for an 8-day visit to introduce Taiwanese businesses in Vietnam to the Taiwanese students and to recruit skilled people for Taiwanese enterprises in Vietnam.

After a violent anti-China protest in Vietnam on May 13, 2014, the situation settled down again. Taiwanese enterprises in Vietnam maintained their spirits and positive outlook, stood fast, and continued to strive for a better future. The Taiwanese enterprises need to strengthen their productivity and competitiveness, and they have a dire need to recruit capable, reliable, and trustworthy personnel.

The Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam is playing an important role in facilitating industry-academia cooperation in Vietnam. This helps Taiwanese enterprises there, and helps establish a stable supply pool of skilled people. At the same time, industry-academia cooperation in Vietnam is also providing Taiwanese students more mobility possibilities and an international perspective. Taiwan students can look to ASEAN as creating “new employment opportunities”, a win-win situation.

On the last day of their visit, the delegation came to visit Mr. Liang Kuang-Chung, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Liang commended them for choosing Vietnam as one of their destinations for industrial cooperation, and he encouraged the students to consider working in Vietnam after they graduate. The delegation believes this trip to Vietnam has been very educational and very fruitful, and the students will certainly consider doing the internship stage of their courses in Vietnam in the near future.
