Date:
David C.Y. Wang, the Representative at the Representative Office in Moscow for the Taipei-Moscow Economic and Cultural Coordination Commission (TMECCC), together with Nicholas Hsu, Director of the Culture Division of TMECC, and William Lu, Secretary of the Education Division of TMECCC, participated in a Mandarin Chinese Proficiency Contest jointly held by Moscow City University (MCU) and the 21st Century Integration International School in Moscow on the morning of April 29. TMECCC was a co-sponsor and organizer of this event and provided the abundant prizes, as it did last year.

Students from six local schools – Shkola No.7, 21st Century Integration International School, Military Academy Pansion, Gimnaziya No. 1517, and Shkola No.2104 – took part in the contest. It gave them an opportunity to display their knowledge and proficiency in spelling, reading, writing, and listening comprehension, participating in the stage show, idioms, and Q & A parts of the contest. David Wang and Nicholas Hsu had the difficult task of judging the best of the participants’ performances, and David Wang presented awards to all the teams at the award ceremony, on behalf of TMECCC.

MCU is one of three main normal universities in Russia. As well as preparing teachers for schools and universities, the university also trains and educates all kinds of professionals to work in a wide range of fields. MCU is one of TMECCC’s closest partners in Moscow. A Mandarin Chinese teacher from Taiwan has been sent to MCU since 2015, and MCU works with TMECCC each year to promote language exchange programs. 21st Century Integration International School, which was the other main organizer of the Mandarin Chinese Proficiency Contest, is a famous private school in Moscow that has 250 students. The school provides courses on eight foreign languages and most of its teachers graduated from MCU.
