Taiwan’s University Delegation Excels at the 2013 Concours Lépine in Paris
Created in 1901, the Concours Lepine is a well-known international contest for the promotion of innovative and commercial ideas and products. For the last 112 years, this internationally acclaimed event has focused on such domains as alternative energies, medical technologies and bio-technologies.
This year’s event activities with the Paris Fair merchandise show attracted over one million visitors. Taiwan delegation win 61 metals for all of their contest submission entries. Winning entries included compact lighting facilities for pedestrians, electric bottles, camera-extension shooting racks, life buoys and solar parasols.
Ambassador Michel Ching-long Lu hosted a reception in honor of this group at the Paris Taipei Representative Office, on May 7, 2013. The Concours Lepine’s President Gerard Dorey attended this reception, presenting remarks praising Taiwan’s vivacity in innovation, along with comments that he was looking forward to visiting the Taipei International Invention Show & Technomart, which has become synonymous with great inventions of the future.
Other distinguished guests included Professor Hsu Yi-chuan of Taiwan United University and delegation leader, who actively engaged in exchanging views with President Dorey and Professor Dubow, representative from the Office of International Affairs at the University Paris Sud, who was invited by the Education Division to hold discussions to explore future areas of cooperation with those universities.
