2013 Conference of Taiwanese Student Association in Eastern Canada Held in Ottawa
The 2013 Conference of Taiwanese Student Association in Eastern Canada was held on October 19 and 20 in Ottawa. 38 members of the Taiwanese Student Association, including presidents, vice presidents and other officials from 11 universities in Ontario and Quebec attended enthusiastically. Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada, Dr. Chih-Kung Liu, hosted a banquet for all participants in the evening on October 19 and encouraged all students to study hard, know each other, keep contact and help each other mutually.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Representative Liu in the morning on October 20. He thanked all the students for participating enthusiastically for years and exhorted them to express themselves actively, reciprocate parents’ expectations and strengthen cultural exchanges between Taiwanese and Canadian students. Following Representative Liu’s opening speech was brief introduction of each functional division’s business profile by directors of the Public Affairs Division, Services Division, Economic Division, Information Division, Science & Technology Division, and Education Division. Meanwhile, student representatives asked questions fervently and had an expansive discussion with the directors and secretaries.

The afternoon’s subjects included a brief introduction of each student associations and open discussion. The officials of 11 universities presented their organizations, members, activities, and services professionally. They also shared experiences in management and leadership with great enthusiasm. In the open discussion, students proposed some cross-university activities cooperatively and gave some suggestions about the conference to the Education Division. They positively affirmed the conference as a great platform to discuss many joint ventures between various Taiwanese Student Associations in Eastern Canada.

After the comprehensive discussion, the 2013 Conference of Taiwanese Student Association in Eastern Canada ended in a satisfactory way successfully at 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
