National Central Library & NTUP universities present books to Columbia University at 2014 AAS
The National Central Library (NCL) presented a gift of a set of volumes to Columbia University at a March 28 reception hosted by TECO-NY Education Director Charlin Chang. Over the past three years, NCL has shipped a total of 521 volumes—comprising over 476 different works—to Philadelphia. These works represent some of Taiwan’s best scholarly contributions to the broad Asian Studies field. NCL, represented by Assistant Editor Hsiu-Ling Sun and Dr. Hui-Ju Chuang, hopes that these valuable resources will increase general access to Taiwan’s many contributions to the field, and promote the hard work of scholars and publishers. This gift will be added to the collection of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library. Dr. Jim Cheng, the library’s director, was on hand to receive the volumes.
Over 100 institutions and university publishers participated in this year’s conference, which boasted 362 panels and lectures, and over 1,000 attendees. With its annual spring conference proving so popular, AAS is now adding an additional summer conference, called “AAS-in-Asia” which Taiwan is slated to host in 2015.
