2014 Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition

The 2014 Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition held at the Pui Ching Education Centre in Hong Kong from October 17 to 19 attracted nearly 10,000 students wanting to study in Taiwan, and secondary school teachers. It is designed to provide detailed useful information about Taiwan’s higher education system and about each of the participating universities.

The 2014 Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition was jointly run by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students, and the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools. 79 universities from Taiwan took part this year, including many well-established famous universities, such as National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chengchi University, and National Cheng Kung University, and many of the newer universities of technology which are building a strong reputation for teaching in modern technology areas.

Mr. Yen Chueng Kuang, the director general of TECO, and Dr. Yuhlong Oliver Su, the president of National Chi Nan University, each spoke at the opening ceremony. Mr. Yen pointed out that so far more than 2,300 Hong Kong students have chosen Taiwan as their study destination, and this figure is forecast to increase to more than 2,400 this year.

On the first day it was announced that 74 of the participating universities have formed alliances with 166 Hong Kong secondary schools, and students who have been recommended by the principal of any of these secondary schools are eligible to receive special concessions, such as a tuition discount.
