Taiwan Teen Diplomatic Envoys Visit Malaysia
The young envoys were 12 high school students who were the winners of the 2015 English-language Speech and Drama Contest for Teen Diplomatic Envoys. They were accompanied by teachers, and officials from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
Mr. James Chi-Ping Chang, the Representative at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Malaysia gave the group a warm welcome at the airport.
He expressed his hopes that their trip to Malaysia would help the young envoys to expand their global vision and foster deeper understanding of the ROC’s diplomatic missions abroad.
During their 5 days in Malaysia, the delegation called on various institutions and schools, and visited well-known cultural and historical spots in Malaysia.
The Education Division of TECO Malaysia arranged for the group to meet local high school students. They went to Confucian Private Secondary School and Catholic High School Petaling Jaya and interacted with the students at each.
The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to University Malaya (UM), one of Malaysia’s highest-ranking educational institutions and interacted with the international students currently studying there.
The young envoys aim was to promote Taiwan’s many strengths and special features, and accelerate the interaction between teenagers from different countries. This trip will no doubt also be significant for their own personal development.
