The Education Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK Renews MoU with British Council Taipei
The Ministry of Education in Taiwan and the British Council Taipei have a long history of collaboration in initiatives such as fostering educational and cultural exchanges, promoting foreign language learning, and organising study visits, and jointly implementing a wide variety of activities and programmes.

The Ministry of Education in Taiwan and the British Council Taipei first signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2005 and this was renewed in 2011. It focused on the internationalisation of higher education, school links, teacher training, and the International Schools Award.

The most recent MoU, detailing further cooperation between the UK and Taiwan, was signed in the British Council Taipei office on July 24, 2017 by the first of the two signatories, Susana Galván, Director of the British Council Taipei. The document was then brought to the UK to be signed by Mr Ouyang Yen-Heng, Director of the Education Division at the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, the other signatory. This second signing took place two weeks later, on August 7 at the office of the Education Division in London.

The close working relationship between the Ministry of Education in Taiwan and the British Council has helped support the development and implementation of international education policies, and the resulting education partnerships and collaboration have assisted learners and teachers across Taiwan, and contributed to Taiwan–UK relations. The two parties recognise the mutual benefits of cooperation in these areas and continue to seek opportunities to work together for the advancement of international education at both school and university level, and beyond.
