MOE Overseas Internship Program Lets Dreams Come True in New York City

Professor Ouyang Yenhui and two students from the Financial Management Department at Kun Shan University, Chen Ruotian and Chen Juiyi, arrived in New York City on July18. The students had come to take part in an overseas internship program sponsored by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan that gives students selected by their university an opportunity to gain experience by getting some practical training in an overseas enterprise or professional institute.
The two students from Kun Shan University then spent their time in a New York accounting firm, studying how to help clients to reduce their taxes and complete their tax returns, and visited several financial institutions. In addition, through Hou CPA arrangements, they also visited the Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, East West Bank, and Cathay Bank, where they were able to speak with professionals and observe carefully, and learn first-hand about the fierce competition between banks, and about emerging financial technology in New York.
This internship program gives students a wonderful opportunity to expand their overseas horizons, learn how to respond to financial and technological changes, and set personal goals to strive to become a competent financial professional.
Dr. Min-Ling Yang, the Director of the Education Division of TECO-NY, arranged a welcoming party for Prof. Ouyang and the two students and expressed her appreciation to Prof. Ouyang and commended the students for their passion and motivation. She encouraged them to make good use of this golden opportunity to study in New York City and hoped their dreams would come true in the future.
