Seminar for Studying in Taiwan Exchange Program Students
On August 6, the Office of Academic links at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held a Student Exchange Program seminar at Yasumoto International Academic Park for students who will soon be travelling to different universities in Taiwan.
This year, twenty-six CUHK students are taking part in the Student Exchange Program and they will be studying at universities in Taiwan for one semester or one year. The ten students who attended the seminar will be studying at National Central University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chengchi University, National Taiwan University, and National Tsing Hua University.
Sophia Hsiang-Ping Ma, Principal Deputy Director at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, and Derek Chou, the director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s Hong Kong Office were invited to give presentations at the seminar. Ms. Ma began with an outline of the education system in Taiwan and then talked about life in Taiwan. For example, Taiwanese food, entertainment, Taiwanese customs, traffic, and living expenses. Mr. Chou then gave a presentation about some of the many tourist attractions in Taiwan.
The students asked many questions about practical matters such as finding accommodation, getting a driving license, health insurance, opening a bank account, and living expenses in Taiwan, and they thought the seminar was very helpful for helping prepare themselves for studying in Taiwan in the fast approaching new academic year.
