Education Division of TECO in Australia holds Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) in Queensland

The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia held the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) in the state of Queensland on September 23, 2018, assisted by the Chung Tian Chinese School of Queensland. One hundred and ten examinees took part this year, a strong increase compared to the 79 examinees who took part last year.

The tests were held simultaneously at three different venues: the Chung Tian Chinese School of Queensland; the St Lucia campus of the University of Queensland; and Saint Stephen's College on the Gold Coast. The tests were supervised by Dr. Aaron Chen, Executive Director of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia, and Ms. Chen Jiachi, a policy officer there.

Aaron commented that the number of people in Australia taking a TOCFL test has seen sustained growth, and he hopes that more outreach to Chinese language teachers will result in being able to hold more trials of TOCFL tests in other states in the near future.
