Association of Catholic University of the Philippines Delegation visits Taiwan

A 25-member delegation from the Association of Catholic University of the Philippines (ACUP), led by Fr. Marcelo Manimtim, president of Adamson University, visited Taiwan from November 21 to 24. ACUP is an association of 35 member Catholic universities located all over the Philippines, and this visit was an excellent opportunity for these university representatives to engage in academic exchanges regarding best practices for future collaborations between the Philippines and Taiwan.

The delegation attended a welcome luncheon hosted by Dr. Jiunn-Rong Yeh, Minister of Education, on the day of their arrival, at which Prof. Chou Hsiung from National Sun Yat-sen University gave a short presentation about the Taiwan Education Center in the Philippines.

During their three-day visit to Taiwan, the delegation called on a number of research institutes and universities to strengthen higher education research related cooperation between the two countries. These included the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan, Academia Sinica, National Taiwan University, Fu Jen Catholic University, and Aletheia University.

Taiwan vigorously promotes higher education exchanges with countries around the world, with a strong focus on countries in our region in line with the New Southbound Policy. For this reason, the MOE has dispatched an education specialist to Manila to intensify educational interaction with the Philippines. It is expected that this will bring more benefits to both Taiwan and the Philippines in the field of education.
