Sabah State Education Department Visits Technical and Vocational Education Institutions in Taiwan

A delegation from the Sabah State Education Department, led by Director Datuk Hajah Maimunah Binti Haji Suhaibul, visited technical and vocational education institutions in Taiwan, between November 26 and December 2, 2018.
The delegation comprised 11 senior executives of the Sabah Education Department, and the visit was initiated by the Taiwan Alumni Association of Sabah with the support of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Division in Malaysia. Mr.  Pang Thou Chong, the vice-president of the Taiwan Alumni Association of Sabah also accompanied the delegation.

The aim of the eight-day trip was to observe and discuss Taiwan’s excellent technical and vocational education, including course design and how students’ technical and vocational training is related to their employability.

"We also wish to explore more opportunities for further studies and training for students from Sabah, through the visits to these high-ranked universities in Taiwan", said Datuk Maimunah.

She expressed keen interest in the education and job training programs offered by Taiwan’s education system, particularly those available to underprivileged students.

The delegation visited the following technical and vocational institutions during their trip: National Taiwan Ocean University, National Taipei University of Education, the Division of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students at National Taiwan Normal University, Taoyuan Municipal Longtan Senior High School, China University of Technology in Taiwan, Dayeh University, Nan Kai University of Technology, Lee-Ming Institute of Technology, and the Ching Kuo Institute of Management and Health.  They also toured the EdTech Taiwan exhibition at the Taipei World Trade Center.

Datuk Maimunah used the opportunity to meet Sabah students who are currently studying in Taiwan, and she was pleased to learn about their good academic performance.
