The Education Division of TECO in Los Angeles has a New Twitter Account

Date:
An April 15 tweet by the Education Division, TECO in Los Angeles supporting #ColorHasNoGender.

The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, one of the seven representative offices of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Taiwan in the United States of America, is excited to announce that we now have a Twitter account! Our team has been working on this project for some time, and we’re delighted to finally share it with our friends.

The @edu.tecola Twitter account will serve as a new way for our office to announce scholarship/fellowship opportunities to study or do research in Taiwan, and share education related news about Taiwan.

On March 30, we tweeted an announcement of our decision to extend the deadlines for scholarship applications in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The new deadlines for applicants in Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Guam are set out below:

1.  Apply by May 15 for Taiwan Scholarships, and for the MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Summer Program.

2.  Apply by July 15 for an MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship for a period of from 3 to 12 months.

On April 15, we joined the campaign to break gender stereotypes and changed the color of the Ministry of Education logo to pink. This was in support of the response of Chen Shih-Chung Taiwan’s Minister of Health and Welfare, after hearing a report about a boy who refused to wear a pink mask for fear of being teased. He and leading male officials in his Ministry all wore pink masks at a press conference.

Our Education Minister Pan Wen-Chung also wore a pink face mask and posted a photo of himself doing so to show everyone that there are no gender-specific colors.

We look forward to engaging with friends on Twitter and welcome you to retweet useful information. Follow us at @edu.tecola for more information and timely updates!
