Online Taiwan Scholarship Information Session
The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco held an online Taiwan Scholarship Information Session on January 28. Taiwan’s Ministry of Education provides Taiwan Scholarships for international students to undertake a degree at a university in Taiwan and thereby enhance mutual understanding, and friendship between Taiwan and the international community.
Jennifer Chu, the Educational Secretary at the Education Division, welcomed the participants and then presented details of the scholarship program and how to apply, and information about studying in Taiwan. Two Taiwan Scholarship recipients, Stephanie Huffman and Chance Leuphold, then talked about their experience in Taiwan. And both answered questions asked by the participants.
Stephanie was awarded a Taiwan Scholarship in 2017 and is now a graduate of the International Master’s Program in Asia-Pacific Studies at National Chengchi University. She mentioned how much she admires Taiwan people’s kindness and gave the example of people always coming to give her a hand when she was reading a map on the streets. She shares many of her Taiwan travel photos on Taiwan Scene website.
Chance was awarded a Taiwan Scholarship in 2019 after participating in the NSLI-Y Chinese Academic Year 2018-2019 program in Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan when he was in high school. He’s currently undertaking a bachelor's program at National Taiwan University and loves campus life and Taiwan's cultural and natural environment.
Some universities in Taiwan now offer degree programs partly or fully taught in English, particularly for higher degrees. Outstanding international students applying for a program fully taught in English are also welcome to apply for a Taiwan Scholarship.
