Taiwan Explores School Cooperation with Telangana -India’s IT State

Mr. Chen Li-ying, Director of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, met with Shri Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary to Government (Deputy Minister level) of the Education Department, Panchayati Raj & Rural Development Department of the Government of Telangana in India on February 17, to discuss school education cooperation.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Education is currently promoting its International Education 2.0 for Primary and Secondary Schools initiative to encourage schools to establish cooperate partnerships and interact with organizations, institutions and enterprises around the world that support education internationalization. Chen Li-ying invited schools in Telangana state to participate in this project. They can join in using the International Exchange Window platform which has been set up to facilitate cooperation between schools in Taiwan and those in India and start substantive exchange programs. 

Shri Sandeep Kumar Sultania thanked Director Chen for the invitation. He said that Taiwan’s education performance is well-known and he is very happy to have this opportunity to cooperate with Taiwan’s schools.
During their discussion, Director Chen also told Shri Sandeep Kumar Sultania that the Education Division would welcome excellent qualified Indian English language teachers in the state of Telangana who he recommends, applying to work as English teachers and teaching assistants in Taiwan.

Telangana State is a major center for India’s information and technology industry. It is the most internationalized and promising region in India, with huge investment in R&D resources, and many major world corporations have their regional headquarters or R&D centers here, including Google, IBM, Yahoo, Dell, Facebook, LG, and Samsung. India’s major technology companies such as Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Wipro are also located in this area.

The capital city of Telangana State, Hyderabad, has a population of more than 13 million and is the fourth largest city in India. There are 41,337 primary and secondary schools in the state, and 1,216 colleges and universities, including junior colleges. Bilateral international cooperation regarding primary and secondary school education will facilitate future investment, industrial development, and in-depth cultural exchange.
