The 2022 FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics World Championship was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas from April 20 to April 23. More than 30,000 students, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, media, and supporters from around the world attended, and 800 robotics teams from 43 countries competed in FIRST programs, such as the FIRST Robotics Competition – for ages 14 to 18; the FIRST Tech Challenge – for ages 12 to 18; the FIRST LEGO League Challenge– for ages 9 to 16; and the FIRST LEGO League Explore– for ages 6 to 10.

Among them were nearly 100 young Taiwanese aged from 8 to 18 showcased their knowledge, skills, creative thinking, and teamwork throughout the competition and walked away with international recognition for their hard work. 
Seven student robotics teams from Taiwan traveled to Houston to compete in the World Championship this year. They included Kaohsiung Power – from Kaohsiung Municipal Chung-Cheng Industrial High School, NNKIEH – from National Nanke International Experimental High School, CyberpunK – from Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School, Future Shock – from Mingdao High School, Tai-botics – from Taichung, and BlockPlanet Shining Parrot – a partnership of two elementary school students from Tainan. 

NNKIEH won the Quality Award in the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship, in which 79 teams at the world level competition took part. The Tai-botics competed in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge and were Finalists for the Robot Design Award and the Robot Performance Award. BlockPlanet Shining Parrot, the team of two elementary students, brought home the Team Poster Award in the FIRST LEGO League Explore program.

Robert Fu-wen Lo, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston presented letters from President Tsai Ing-Wen and Vice President Lai Ching-te, to the medal-winning teams congratulating them for their outstanding accomplishments on the global stage.
