Himi City in Toyama Prefecture Japan Signs MOU with Si Wan College at National Sun Yat-sen University

Dr. Virginia Shiang-lan Shen, an associate dean of Si Wan College at National Sun Yat-sen University, representing the dean Prof. Wang Hong-Zen, led a delegation of senior Si Wan College staff on a visit to Himi City in Toyama Prefecture, Japan, in August. During their visit Himi City and Si Wan College signed an MOU on international exchanges on August 10th at Himi City Hall. Dr. Shen signed the MOU on behalf of Si Wan College, and Masayuki Hayashi, the mayor of Himi City, signed the MOU on behalf of the city.

The dignitaries attending the signing ceremony included Mineto Hagiyama, Chairman of Himi City Council, Tetsuya Kamanaka, School superintendent of the Himi City Board of Education, and Lin Yu-Jou, the Cultural and Educational Affairs Attaché at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka.

Himi City and Gushan District in Kaohsiung where Si Wan College is located established a friendship exchange city agreement online on December 5, 2020, and since then, Himi City has worked with Si Wan College to organize online lectures for students at the interdisciplinary college. Approximately 200 students have attended the lectures in Taiwan.

Himi City and Si Wan College will continue deepening friendly and cooperative relations. This will include academic, educational, and cultural interaction and exchanges, making use of local cultural resources, and pushing forward international collaboration for community development.
