Josiah Quincy Upper School is a public high school in Boston with an excellent performance in the past ten years. With the assistance of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston (TECO-Boston) and the support of the Boston City Council, a group of 22 students accompanied by four teachers traveled to Taiwan on October 21, 2023 for a two-week study tour. This was the first time that a group of teachers and students from a Boston Public Schools has traveled to Taiwan to study Chinese language and culture, and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan). provided subsidies for each student.

The Education Division of TECO-Boston held a pre-departure briefing at the school on October 19, 2023 to give the group a basic understanding of Taiwan before they set off to travel there. It was also attended by school administrators and eight students who are expecting to travel to Taiwan in 2024. During the briefing session, the attendees enjoyed popcorn chicken and bubble tea while they watched a video about Taiwan and took part in quiz games with prizes for the winners, to make the session enjoyable as well as informative.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) warmly welcomed the group from Josiah Quincy Upper School to Taiwan in late October. Dr. Nicole Lee, the Director General of the Department of International and Cross-strait Education, met with the school's principal, Richard Chang, who thanked the Ministry of Education for its support, on behalf of Boston City Council and the school. He presented her with a commendation for the Ministry and for Tamkang University from the Boston City Council and with a Josiah Quincy Upper School sweater.

Dr. Arty Liao, the Deputy Director General of the Department of International and Cross-strait Education, hosted a dinner for the students and faculty on behalf of the Ministry of Education on October 31, 2023.
