Online Taiwan scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Information Session on January 30

On January 30, the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago hosted an online session providing information on the Taiwan Scholarships and the Huayu Enrichment Scholarships provided by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. The Taiwan Scholarships are for undertaking a degree at any level and the Huayu Enrichment Scholarships are to study Mandarin in Taiwan. More than 30 people took part in the online session.
Jennifer Chu, the Director of the Education Division in Chicago, gave a comprehensive overview of each of the scholarships and then Sam Borgwardt, a recipient of both a 2011 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship and a 2013 Taiwan Scholarship, shared details of his personal experiences in Taiwan where he obtained his master's degree from National Chengchi University.
Sam, who’d resided in Taiwan for more than six years,  emphasized Taiwan’s unique blend of modernity and tradition, along with the warmth and generosity of the Taiwanese people. He expressed his belief in Taiwan's rich academic potential and he encouraged the audience to foster connections with people there.  He also highlighted how his time in Taiwan enabled him to secure employment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jennifer urged the online audience to seize this chance and apply for these scholarships provided by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education that offer international students opportunities to broaden their horizons and explore the world.
