Date:
The distinguished guests and alumni

The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand organized a Meeting and Sharing about Start-up Business Experiences of Taiwan Alumni in Thailand 2024 meeting to give alumni an opportunity to exchange insights about starting up businesses in Thailand. The meeting was held at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Bangkok on May 18, and attended by 65 alumni from 23 Taiwanese universities and members of the Association of Taiwan Alumni (Thailand).
Ms. Hsueh Hsiu-Mei 薛秀媚, the Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Thailand, gave the welcoming remarks. She spoke about the caliber of Taiwan’s education and the benefits of industry-university collaboration, and she extended a warm welcome to Thai alumni who had studied or worked in Taiwan and then returned to set up a business.
She also spoke about Taiwan's key position in the global high-tech sector, expressing Taiwan's willingness to share its expertise with Thailand and jointly foster advancements in high-tech industries. And she expressed her hope that this gathering would help Thai alumni who’d studied in Taiwan to learn from each other’s entrepreneurial experiences and foster mutually beneficial innovative interactions.
Speakers from the Representative Office in Thailand and from the Thai Alumni Association in Taiwan highlighted the strengths of Taiwan’s education and talked about opportunities for educational and industrial cooperation between Thailand and Taiwan, and the accompanying challenges. Particularly interesting experiences and recommendations were shared by Mr. Hsieh Ming-Shan謝明山, Mr. Jin Hsing-Li 金興利, Ms. Kao Pao-Lin高寶琳, and Mr. Lin Han-fa林漢發. They have diverse backgrounds—in different fields of law, information technology, translation, and education—and they gave alumni thinking of starting a business or of living and working in Taiwan abundant inspiration and practical advice.
The gathering included a meal featuring Taiwanese cuisine, which heightened the Taiwanese atmosphere and sparked attendees’ memories of their time there. A lucky draw for some special Taiwanese gifts added to the ambiance and interaction among the attendees. Everyone enjoyed this gathering brimming with enthusiasm and good spirits.
