The NAFSA 2025 Annual Conference & Expo, the world’s largest international education event, was held in San Diego, California between May 27 and May 30. Over 10,000 participants from more than 100 countries attended, highlighting the vibrancy and diversity of international education cooperation. The theme of this year’s Conference & Expo—Purpose, Place, and Partnership—emphasized core educational values and long-term partnerships across campuses, communities, and countries.

Taiwan remains committed to expanding global academic exchanges and fostering deeper education and research related international cooperation. Dr. Wu Cheng-Chih 吳正己, chairperson of FICHET—the Foundation for the International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan—led a delegation of 43 representatives of 16 universities in Taiwan and of Fulbright Taiwan to take part in the Expo and promote educational cooperation between the U.S. and Taiwan.

The Study in Taiwan pavilion presented Taiwan as a Technology Hub, underscoring the strong link between higher education and technological innovation—particularly in fields such as AI and emerging technologies. It attracted interest from many educators and international education officials interested in discussing ways to engage in international cooperation.

FICHET held a Taiwan Night networking dinner on May 28 and welcomed more than 150 guests from partner institutions around the world. This was an opportunity for the people attending to talk about ways to further strengthen bilateral ties and future collaborations in a relaxed setting.

The Taiwanese delegation participating in this year’s NAFSA Conference & Expo once again demonstrated the strengths of Taiwan’s higher education and reaffirmed the solid higher education and research partnerships between Taiwan and the United States.
