Mr Yen-Heng Ouyang, Director of the Education Division, was delighted to support the venture, expressing his pleasure at attending the concert, and offering his congratulations to everybody involved. In a speech welcoming the various guests and contributors, Mr Ouyang said how proud he was to witness not only the work of talented individuals, but also the collective efforts of such a gifted ensemble of musicians from Taiwan and from Europe.

As well as being a wonderful evening, the event certainly served to further understanding of Taiwanese music and to encourage students from Taiwan to promote their country and their own accomplishments, all of which are very much in accordance with the aims and endeavours of the Education Division.

The Taiwanese musicians participating in the concert in London included Shih-Yang Lee, a pianist; Cheng-Ying Chuang, a countertenor and Chinese lutenist; I-Chin Li, a composer; and Chien-Chun Lin, a soprano. The latter two musicians, Chin Li and Chien-Chun Lin are currently undertaking PhD programs in the post-graduate school at Goldsmiths, University of London.

The Crossing Sound concert was a study of the transformation of identity, embodiment and space which sought to utilise composition and musicality to reflect the interaction between East and West, internal and external, certainty and uncertainty. It was an excellent showcase of the ability of the composers and performers, Taiwanese and European alike.
