Each year, the Ministry of Education in Taiwan offers Austrian students Taiwan Scholarships to study for a degree in Taiwan and Huayu Enrichment Scholarships to study Mandarin there. The Ministry also provides financial support for teachers and students of Chinese to participate in a summer school program at NCKU. As well as these, the Education Division also promoted the working holiday Visa program just coming into effect this year. It allows Austrian people between 18 and 30 to travel and work in Taiwan for up to 180 days.

The summer program in Tainan proved to rouse the most interest from students speaking with division staff. Students appreciated getting first-hand information and a number of students were encouraged to apply for scholarships for 2016 and sign up for the summer school. Taiwan is a popular destination for students at JKU, indicated by their feedback, and also by the entries in a Studying Abroad Photography Competition which was held the same week. The exhibition featured many photographs from Taiwan, taken during exchange semesters and by students vacationing there. The division is looking forward to receiving many applications for 2016 and to continuing its cooperation with JKU.

JKU Linz was founded in 1966. In a short period of time it has become a cutting-edge institution for science, academics, business, and the community. JKU has traditionally had a close relationship with Taiwan and to date has five partner universities in Taiwan. JKU has established numerous exchange programs and offers a Global Master’s Degree in Business in conjunction with National Sun Yat-sen University.
