Record number of applicants for Chinese Language Test (TOCFL) at UC Berkeley
The Education Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco arranged to hold the TOCFL tests at UC Berkeley in cooperation with the University’s Department of East Asian Languages and Culture.
The TOCFL tests are designed for people who are not native speakers of Chinese. Everyone who sits for the tests will receive a document with their test results, and those who pass will receive a certificate. A TOCFL certificate can be used as evidence of language proficiency when applying for a scholarship or for admission to academic programs at colleges and universities in Taiwan, getting a job in Chinese-speaking countries or in a company dealing with Chinese-speaking clients and partners.
People can choose which TOCFL band and which skills they want to register for testing their proficiency: Band A is Levels 1 and 2, Band B is Levels 3 and 4, and Band C is the most advanced, Levels 5 and 6. They can sit for TOCFL Listening and Reading, or TOCFL Writing, or TOCFL Speaking, or all three. The tests are available in both simplified and traditional characters. Free sample tests are available online to help people choose the most suitable level at: http://www.sc-top.org.tw/mocktest.php
