MOE Taiwan and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Germany launch hand-in-hand into Taiwan Studies

Humboldt University recently launched into Taiwan Studies hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan, with the mutual signing of a memorandum of understanding on April 26 2016 in Berlin to establish a Taiwan Studies Program.
Ms Weng Chin-Ying, the Director of the Education Division at the Taipei Representative Office in Germany signed the Taiwan Studies Program MOU on behalf of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and Professor Dr. Michael Mann, the Director of the Institute for Asian and African Studies at Humboldt University signed on behalf of the university. Professor Dr. Henning Kloeter of the Taiwan Studies who will be in charge of the program was a witness. Professor Dr. Kloeter is an outstanding researcher in the field of Taiwan Studies. He established a Taiwan Research Library at Bochum University when working there with the Faculty of East Asian Studies.
The title of Humboldt University’s Taiwan Studies program is Taiwan in Asia: Connections and Comparisons, and the university will host a series of seminars, lectures, and international conferences on the language, history, society and culture of Taiwan. Several field studies in Taiwan will also receive MOE support, to promote understandings of Taiwan and links with people and institutions there.
