Education Division of TECO in Hanoi holds February Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL)

Date:

The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam held the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) on February 24, 2018. This was the second of thirteen TOCFL tests that are scheduled to be held there in 2018.
Eighty-four examinees took part: 72 for Band A, ten for Band B, and two for Band C.

The tests were supervised by Chang Shu-Ching, Secretary of the Education Division, assisted by Pham Thi Thu, and Pham Thu Trang.
Lee Ming, the director of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hanoi commented that the number of people in Vietnam taking a TOCFL test has seen sustained growth in the past few years, and more than 6,000 people registered to take a TOCFL test in 2017. This is closely connected with overseas student recruitment, overseas Chinese language teaching, and the need of Taiwanese corporations in Vietnam for professional staff with good Mandarin communication skills.

The TOCFL tests are currently held in three places in Vietnam north of Hue: (1) in Hanoi, at the TECO office; (2) at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Hanoi; and (3) at the Vietnam–Russia Vocational College No.1 in Vinh Phuc Province. Halong University in Quang Ninh Province and Ha Tinh University in Ha Tinh Province are applying to become overseas TOCFL test venues, and this will make a total of five test venues in the region of Vietnam north of Hue and help meet the increasing demand.
