Department of Legal Affairs

  The Department of Legal Affairs is established according to the Ministry of Education Regulations for Departmental Affairs and in charge of the following affairs:

  1. Reviewing laws and regulations.
  2. Collection, compilation, accounting and active registration of legal information.
  3. Expounding dubious interpretations of laws and regulations.
  4. Reviewing appeal cases filed by people who believe that the administrative decision made by an administrative agency under the Ministry of Education, or the matter governed and supervised by the Ministry of Education while handled by a county (city) government or Yuan-governed city government, is against the law or inappropriate so as to impair their rights or interests.
  5. Handling the grievance filed by a teacher who considers illegal or inappropriate the measure/decision taken against him/her by a senior high school or a school of lower level under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, claiming his/her rights are damaged as resulting therefrom; handling the grievance filed by a teacher who considers illegal or inappropriate the measure/decision taken against him/her by the Ministry of Education, claiming his/her rights are damaged as resulting therefrom; reviewing the appeal from either the complaining teacher or the institution of higher education whose measure/decision was complained by the teacher where either party is not satisfied with the results of the teacher’s grievance made by the institution; reviewing the appeal from either the complaining teacher or the Municipality government whose measure/decision was complained by the teacher where either party is not satisfied with the results of the teacher’s grievance made by the Municipality Teacher Grievances Committee.
  6. Other affairs regarding legal matter, appeal and teacher's grievance.

  The following task forces are also established to accomplish relevant missions:

  1. Committee of Laws and Regulations.
  2. The Appeal Review Committee.
  3. The Task Force for State Compensation.
  4. Central Committee for Teachers' Grievances.
