Taiwanese Food Festival in London a Great Success
The festival was held on November 23rd in the Main Quad of UCL, a very central London location with open access and a spacious outdoor area. The event attracted around 3,000 people to enjoy the ‘Taste of Taiwan’. A record-breaking number!
At this year's Taiwanese Food Festival there were 13 stalls: four representing Taiwanese student societies, six representing famous Taiwanese restaurants, and three cultural advertising stands. The variety of Taiwanese delicacies for people to enjoy included such favourites as bubble tea, pineapple cake, and chicken rice, among many others. A “Study in Taiwan” stand demonstrated calligraphy to promote Chinese culture and encourage outstanding international students to undertake Chinese language study or their degree studies in Taiwan.
SUROCUK invested a great deal of effort into making the event the best Taiwanese Food Festival ever, and it seems to have been just that! As well as many people from Taiwan coming along to bring back their memories of well-loved Taiwanese food, friends from all over the world also came along for a taste of Taiwan’s food and culture.
A special thanks to SUROCUK committee members, twenty volunteers, the photographer and every single participating vendor. This event would never have been such a success without the contribution of each and every person. We want next year's Taiwanese Food Festival to be even better. In the meantime, we’ll keep on spreading the word, letting everyone know about Taiwanese food and culture!
