The Hong Kong Alumni Association of National Taipei University held its inauguration ceremony at a party at the Shing Hin restaurant in the City University of Hong Kong on January 25, 2014. Around 100 guests including Fu-Jing Shiue (薛富井), President of National Taipei University (NTPU); Chueng-Kuang Yen (嚴重光), General Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office; and the presidents and members of the alumni associations of other universities were also present.

The inaugural party started with a video of history introducing NTPU, and outlining how the fledgling Hong Kong Alumni Association of NTPU came to be established, and the designer of its badge elaborated the concept behind the badge. Mr. Donald Chiu, President of the Hong Kong Federation of Taiwan Universities Alumni Associations, announced that Chun-Nang Wong (黃進能), who graduated in 2012, had been elected as the first President of the Hong Kong Alumni Association of National Taipei University, using modern online nomination and voting. All other key posts of the new association have been filled by alumni who graduated in 2013. These young members will give the new Hong Kong Alumni Association of NTPU their creativity and positivity.

In his inaugural speech, Wong promised to strengthen the connection between the alumni and their alma mater. Shiue and Yen each delivered a speech congratulating the association on its establishment. Shiue hopes that the alumni association will be able to help NTPU internationalize further. Yen hopes to see more cooperation between the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Alumni Association of NTPU. The ceremony ended with a group photo at 8pm.

National Taipei University began as Taiwan Provincial College of Public Administration in 1949 and later became the Law Business College of National Chung-Hsin University. In 2000, this Law Business College was once again restructured and became National Taipei University. The Hong Kong Alumni Association of National Taipei University was officially established fourteen years later.
