Taipei Representative Office Attends Presidential Inauguration Ceremony at Technische Universität Berlin

The Technische Universität Berlin is an internationally renowned university which has cooperative relationships with several major universities in Taiwan. Two presidents of Technische Universität Berlin have visited Taiwan at the invitation of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education in the last decade, strengthening these international partnerships.

A new university president, Prof. Dr. Christian Thomsen, took office there on April 1, 2014 and he was formally installed on May 19.

Agnes Hwa-Hue Chen, head of the Taipei Representative Office, and the colleagues of the education division were invited to attend the ceremony. They gladly took this opportunity to meet the new president and personally congratulate him.

After the formal installation, the new president gave his inaugural address. He first introduced his vice presidents and chancellor and then presented the agenda for his tenure. Prof. Dr. Thomsen reflected on his university’s ongoing traditions of excellence in research, education, and service. He also stressed the importance of national and international networking and cooperation.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by an open reception giving everyone a good opportunity to exchange ideas and views.
