With its high quality education, safe English-friendly environment, and relatively affordable tuition costs, Taiwan has gradually been recognized as an ideal destination for international students to pursue their higher degree studies. National Tsing Hua University began undertaking student recruitment in the U.S.A. in 2013, pointing these attractive details out, and this year, the university’s president Dr. Hong Ho-Cheng led a team to northern California and held a Study in NTHU information session at Hilton Santa Clara on August 16, 2014.

The information session attracted many young Taiwanese-American students, their parents, and NTHU alumni who came and met with the university representatives. The Education Division of TECO in San Francisco also took part, helping promote this event through local media and educational institutions.

After warmly welcoming everyone, Dr. Hong Ho-Cheng gave a brief outline of National Tsing Hua University’s excellent academic achievements and learning resources, all of which stand well when compared with those of other world-leading institutions of higher education. Dr. Feng Da-Hsuan, the university’s senior vice president, then gave a short talk on the rapid progress made by Asia’s higher education institutions in recent decades.

To give everyone attending a clearer picture of student life at NTHU, Dr. Chen Sinn-Wen Chen, Vice President for Global Affairs, then gave a comprehensive presentation on the university’s learning environment, degree programs, and admission. The last part of the event was Q & A session. Many of the students present were interested to learn more about scholarship programs, admission requirements, regulations for overseas compatriot students and foreign students studying in Taiwan, as well as potential career and research opportunities for graduates of NTHU.
