Representative Tung Speaks about Taiwan in Lecture Series for Graduate Students at KU Leuven
Representative Tung from the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium was invited to give a lecture to the European Foreign Policy class at the Catholic University of Leuven’s (KU Leuven) College of Social Sciences. Diplomats from different countries and high-level policy experts are regularly asked to speak in this lecture series.

In his 2-hour lecture entitled ‘Sailing in Choppy Waters: Cross-strait Relations and their Impact on the EU’, Representative Tung spoke about the development of Cross-strait relations, and their impact on the EU, to almost 100 graduate students and teachers. Staff from the Education Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the EU & Belgium also attended and provided information about the Taiwan Scholarships and Chinese language scholarships, as well as Taiwan’s culture and landscape, for the students’ reference.

The university is currently working with the Taipei Representative Office in the EU & Belgium to establish a Taiwan Studies Programme which will begin in the second half of 2015. That same day, Representative Tung and Hsu Huei-wen, Director of the Education Division, accompanied by Dean Bart Kerremans and Vice-Dean Leen D’Haenens from the College of Social Sciences, also met with Rector Rik Torfs and exchanged views on the future strengthening of collaboration with Taiwan’s universities.
