Chinese Taipei breezes to 12-1 victory in PONY League World Series Championship
The Chinese Taipei PONY league baseball team defeated San Bernardino, California, 12-1 to win the Pony League World Series on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Lew Hays Pony Field at Washington Park. The championship is the seventh for Chinese Taipei, and they are a source of great national pride, and Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou offered the team his warmest congratulations. Dr. Charlin Chang, the Education Director at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECO) presented the team with the stunning award certificate.

The final match at Lew Hays Pony Field at Washington Park drew enormous attention from the Taiwanese community. Many local Taiwanese went along and formed groups of cheering people, showing their strong support of the Chinese Taipei baseball team. Dr. Chang said “The team has been performed outstanding work. It’s a wonderful example of superb teamwork. It’s not a one-man show. Everyone has to pull together and fight together to become the champion. I’m so proud of the team: without their hard work and dedication, this wouldn’t have happened.”

In Asia, baseball is more than a very popular game. It’s a way of life. From a young age, players are taught the fundamentals of the sport with an emphasis on discipline and respect. Once again, congratulations to this team of champions.
