Press Conference on 2016 Scholarship Programs

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay held a press conference on Friday, January 22 to announce the 2016 scholarship opportunities for Paraguayan students who are interested in pursuing higher studies in Taiwan.

The event was held at the Guarani Hotel in Asuncion, jointly hosted by authorities from the Embassy of the R.O.C. Taiwan, the Paraguayan Ministry of Education, and the Technical Planning Secretariat. Several local media outlets including newspapers and television sent representatives to this occasion.

Since 1991, 278 Paraguayan students have received a scholarship, and there are currently more than 100 students studying in Taiwan as a beneficiary of one of the different scholarship programs: namely, with a Taiwan Scholarship, a Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, an ICDF Scholarship, or undertaking the E-learning Executive Master's Program in Asia-Pacific Studies at Tamkang University.

Extensive information about these programs was given at the press conference, and graduate and current students talked about studying in Taiwan. The event gave interested people a better understanding of Taiwan and some first-hand reports of students’ experiences there.
