Taiwanese designer Meng Chih Chiang recently won a Bronze Award in the Information Processing Tools Design category of the A' Design Award and Competition with a fascinating piece called A Stranger to Words.

The entries are all peer reviewed and anonymously judged by a panel of prominent academics, journalists, and experienced professionals.

Meng Chih Chiang studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York with a Ministry of Education Study Abroad Scholarship. She has formerly participated in several design events and exhibitions held by the Education Division of TECO NY: Zero boundaries - 2014 New York exhibition of cutting-edge creativity Taiwan in 2014, and the One World, Different Strokes Illustration Group Exhibition in 2015.

Meng Chih Chiang explained that A Stranger to Words is an interactive network graph to visualize her personal learning experience as a dyslexic and it was originally created to express how she understood words. It is based on a database of 23,358 words, compiled from recording her daily experience of reading. Her goal was to use data visualization to reveal a connecting system underlying text algorithm in an insightful way and to unfold her personal sentiments. She wanted to transform the suffering of depression and frustration she had experienced into a fantastic and imaginative production.
