HEEACT Continues Cooperation with Malaysia’s MQA
Both agencies agreed to renew and extend the MoA for an additional term of five years, until 2022, and the renewed MoA was signed by Datuk Prof. Dr. Rujhan Mustafa, the Chief Executive Officer of MQA and by Prof. Angela Yung-Chi Hou, the Executive Director of HEEACT, in the MQA office in Petaling Jaya on August 3, 2017.
During the signing ceremony, Prof Rujhan said the aims of the agreement are fostering of the existing relationship between the two agencies, further strengthening of the partnership, and promoting technical cooperation that will be of mutual benefit, through avenues such as exchanges of information and through mutual understanding.
“The cooperation is hoped to provide developmental opportunities for officials of both agencies to participate in the staff exchange programme at each other’s office, participate as observers in institutional audit exercises, and be involved in training activities. All of these initiatives reflect the aspiration to strengthen the international dimension of institutional audits and collaborate in future quality assurance and accreditation activities.”
Prof. Angela Yung Chi Hou said that HEEACT hopes to engage in more international exchange projects that could eventually encourage opportunities for similar interaction with other quality assurance agencies in other countries.
The MoA signing ceremony was also attended by Wu Chih-Wei, a Section Chief at the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education; Prof. Lin Shaw-Ren, Dean of the HEEACT Quality Assurance Office; Dr. Chou Hua-Chi, HEEACT Assistant Research Fellow; Chu To-Ming, the Director of the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO); and Diego Bo-Wun Bai, Deputy Assistant Director at TECO.
