The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan and the College of Chemistry at UC Berkeley have jointly set up a Taiwan–College of Chemistry, UC Berkeley Fellowship to support outstanding Taiwan graduate students who would like to undertake a Ph.D. at the College of Chemistry, UC Berkeley. This joint fellowship will serve as a one-year pilot project for future similar collaborations between Taiwan and the entire UC Berkeley.
Up to five fellowships may be awarded and the successful applicants will begin their Ph.D. programs in the 2018 academic year. Each fellowship will cover living expenses and tuition fees. It will be of three years’ duration but may be extended to four years upon request.

Applicants should be ROC citizens who normally live in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen or Matsu, although ROC citizens who are currently studying overseas are also eligible to apply. Students currently enrolled in a doctoral program at UC Berkeley (or in the College of Chemistry) are not eligible. The application deadlines are: December 1 for applications to undertake a Ph.D. in the Department of Chemistry, and December 15 for applications to undertake a Ph.D. in the Department of Chemical Enginering. Applicants must meet the standard requirements to gain admission to the College of Chemistry at UC Berkeley.
The applications will be reviewed by both Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and the College of Chemistry at UC Berkeley, and the names of the successful applicants will be announced at the end of March, 2018.
