Ministry of Education and National Science Council Jointly conduct the TIMSS and PIRLS performance presentation press conference
TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Sciences Study) measured trends in Mathematics and Sciences for eighth and fourth grades, PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) measured trend in Reading comprehension for fourth grade announced their assessment results conducted in 2011 today.In order to better inform the general public the assessment results, the Ministry of Education and the National Science Council jointly conduct the press conference. In the TIMSS assessment of the 8th grade Science and Mathematics part, Republic of China (Taiwan) ranks the Second and the Third, respectively.And for PIRLS Reading part, the ranking is no 9, a tremendous leap from the 22nd ranking of 2006.And it was the first time for this country to get into the top 10 ranking for Reading part.Minister Chiang (from the Ministry of Education, second from right) and Deputy Minister Mou (from the National Science Council, second from left) jointly chair the press conference and answer questions raised from the reporters.
