This year the competition was held for the seventh time and a student from Taiwan, Ms. Ou Pei-Ling won the 3rd prize, and EUR 3000 in prize money. Her design, “the sound of freedom”, symbolizes the importance and value of freedom of speech. Her outstanding design was selected by the jury as the third-best among the large number of entries from around the world. A total of 100 award winners were chosen and invited to the awards ceremony in Germany.

The young prize-winning designer Ou Pei-Ling is a student of Shu-Te University in Kaohsiung where she is studying visual communication design. She was invited to Germany to join the awards ceremony in Hamburg, and was accompanied by Miss Kung Tiwan, a teacher in Shu-Te University’s Visual Design Department. First stop on their schedule was a visit to the Taipei Representative Office in Berlin. On July 22, they were received by Taiwan’s representative to Germany, Chen Hwa-Yue, the director of the Educational Division Dr. Shen Cen-Chu, and secretary Sie Jheng-Bin. They left Berlin for Hamburg on July 24 to join the iF awards party night. The awards ceremony at which Ou Pei-Ling happily received her award was held the next day. The ceremony was also a great opportunity to meet experts and officials from product and communication design companies and to exchange ideas with other young designers.
