With the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay Taipei Medical University has donated a range of medical equipment items to the affiliated Hospital of Clinics of the College of Medicine at National University of Asuncion.

These medical and technological equipment items are: pocket-sized color visualization ultrasound devices; notebooks; cardiograph technology; emergent temporal artery thermometers; upper arm blood pressure monitors; a blood glucose monitoring system; and N95 masks.

A presentation event was attended by Dr. Pedro Gerardo González, Rector of the National University of Asuncion; Dr. Anibal Peris, Dean of the College of Medicine at the same university; and the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay.

Prof. Dr. Aníbal Peris expressed appreciation of the generous gesture of Taipei Medical University that has demonstrated once again the social and humanitarian greatness of the people of Taiwan. He promised that his team would use the donated equipment to best advantage, so as to better the quality of medical treatment and practice in his teaching hospital.

Taipei Medical University has been maintaining close academic ties with the National University of Asuncion since the two universities signed a cooperation agreement in November 2012. These ties were strengthened when the President of TMU, Dr. Tsu-teh Lee, called on his counterpart in Paraguay, and when Rector Gonzalez and Dean Peris visited Taiwan in December, 2013 in response to an invitation extended by the Ministry of Education.
