Taiwan-Thailand Elite 600 Scholarship Program Information Seminars
The Elite Study-In-Taiwan Program Office (ESIT) is an affiliate of the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. One of ESIT’s responsibilities is to assist officials and university teaching and other staff members in Thailand and in other countries of South East Asia to pursue a Master’s degree or a doctorate degree at a university in Taiwan. This can be done using scholarships funded by universities and governments in Taiwan and their own country.

An Agreement on Educational Cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand was signed by the representatives of the governments in Taiwan and Thailand on September 11, 2013, and the Taiwan-Thailand Elite 600 Scholarship Program was launched to begin in the fall semester of 2014. This program will assist a total of 600 lecturers and staff of Thai universities to study for one of these higher degrees in Taiwan between the academic years beginning 2014 and 2018.

In April, ESIT hosted several information seminars for between 30 and 50 participants, in three prestigious universities in Thailand, namely Kasesart University, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, and Prince Songkhla University, to promote this scholarship program. Interested persons on the teaching or administrative staff of any university were all welcome to attend and gather useful information.

The basic topics covered were the Elite 600 Scholarship Program itself; the range of universities in Taiwan where people could pursue higher degrees; why people should seriously consider applying; Taiwan and living in the Taiwanese environment; and how to lodge an application using the ESIT online application system/process.

It is hoped that there will be an enthusiastic response and many people will apply. In future ears the scholars that return to Thailand after completing degrees in Taiwan will form a strong bridge for positive interactions between Thailand and Taiwan in many arenas.
