The Ministry of Education in Chinese Taipei and National Taipei University of Technology co-hosted an APEC TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) forum in Taipei from April 23 to April 26. The theme was Sustainable TVET for Market-oriented Talent Cultivation: Building an International Collaboration Network. It focused on two key related issues: Career Mapping for Youth, and Academia-Industry Collaboration. Education officials from Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Thailand, the U.S.A., and Vietnam were invited to make a presentation at the forum.

Mrs. Pattama Weerawanit, Director of the Bureau of Personnel Competency Development Office of the Vocational Education Commission, Ministry of Education in Thailand, for example, spoke on the topic TVET Participation Model of Skill Cluster: Building Collaboration with Enterprise Networking for Sustainable Development at Session 2 which addressed Preparing a World-class Workforce through Youth Skills Development.

In a nutshell, the forum was designed to establish a platform for interested APEC economies to share ideas and practices, especially those related to the importance of student internships and integration and collaboration between academia and industry to help career mapping. In addition to the forum, visits to a vocational training center, and a technical and vocational university, and a cultural tour were arranged.
