Taiwan-India Parliamentary Group visits Jamia Millia Islamia University
The Taiwan-India Parliamentary Group a fourteen-member delegation from Taiwan led by legislator Ms. Chen Chieh-Ju came to India and visited Jamia Milia Islamia University in Delhi on July 23, accompanied by Ambassador Tien Chung-Kwang and Mr. Chen Yi-Ta from the Education Division at TECC. The delegation interacted with administrators and academic officials, to strengthen academic ties and to take the existing collaboration to a higher level.

The delegates visited the Academy of International Studies at Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Academy (MMAJ) to familiarize themselves with the functioning of the Taiwan Education Centre on its campus. Prof. Prakash, the chairman of MMAJ, and Ms. Ginger Chen, Chinese instructor, explained the language program offered as part of the Chinese Study Program of the Academy and the accomplishments it has already enjoyed.

Prof. G.P. Sharma, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Languages, welcomed the delegates with enthusiasm and told them about Jamia’s history and its contemporary engagement with the world. He conveyed Jamia’s resolve to take the Chinese Study Program there to a higher level.

Ms. Chen Chieh-Ju expressed appreciation about this. She also expressed Taiwan’s desire to introduce Mandarin Chinese into more universities in India and also into schools at secondary level in the education system.
